13 | Name: Nymphaea 'Daubeniana' Name status: orthog. variant Publication: 1864. Suppl.Oxf.bot.gard. Page #: 40 Protologue description: The most striking difference between this and other Nymphaeas, is that young plants spring from the upper surface of the leaf just over the insertion of the petiole, these young plants producing flowers at a very early stage. As the plants increase in size, the old leaf dies and they become separate individual plants, and with proper treatment attain a good size, equal to any of the Stellate type. The flowers are of a light blue, deliacately fragrant. It is one of the most floriferous of all Nymphaeas, commencing to flower while attached to the parent leaf. A most attractive novelty.
